Resting as His Child

"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matthew 6: 25-34

Take time today to meditate on who God is for you and what He has done for you. Live today by the grace He supplies. Don't worry about things that have no value. Don't set your affections on worthlessness. Come boldly to the throne of grace as a child of God, and know that God has set you aside for himself. Take time to sit at the feet of Jesus today.

"3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah." -Psalm 4:3,4

Taking Comfort Against the Odds

Learning to take Hope from Psalm 3

"1Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah."

The enemy will try to use our circumstances to get us to lose hope in our God. When it seems like the world is against us and we don't see immediate hope in God the enemy will try to get us to feel like we are all alone. Don't lose heart in those situations dear beloved of God, for our God is always with us and always for us.

"3But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah."

Rejoice and take hold of the confidence we have in God.

"5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly."

Be at peace and rest in God. He is greater then tens of thousands of people. There is no situation that you have been placed in that God has not put you in. Know that whatever you go through in life God will always be your deliverer, dear child of God.

"8Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah."

The Peace of Jerusalem

In shedding a bit of light on who I am I decided to post a video that my husband made. The song in the background is called "The Peace of Jerusalem," and my husband wrote it (the lyrics come from Psalm 122). This song was written shortly after we lost our first son at 23 weeks gestation.

God has truly healed our hearts and our strength to move on rests in him.

"Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." -Psalm 73: 25-26

By Faith We Have Peace With God

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly." -Romans 5:1-6

Growning in Grace

"I am glad, dear Madam, that the Lord made the burning bush a fit emblem of your case, and that you desire greenness and fruitfulness. Your desire after greenness and fruitfulness is from your having these, and it is a greater measure that you desire. And be not dismayed at your apparent lack of greenness and growth in grace. It is one thing to be green and fruitful—and another to discern that we are so. God, and other of His children, may see our greenness and fruitfulness, when for wise and gracious ends these may be hidden much from ourselves. Only let this be your chief care, to "glorify God in the fires," and fear not greenness and fruitfulness—to His praise and your bliss, amid fiery trials." - Anne Dutton

What is Man that Thou art Mindful of Him

Sometimes I get so used to hearing about the sun rising and setting that I actually forget that the sun isn't even moving, earth is. I get so wrapped up in my own little bubble of life that I actually think the focal point of the universe is me! "Me?" I think, "No, surely I don't really mean that?" In all reality I do. Dear reader, let me explain what I mean. Life is so short, the universe is so big, and there are billions of souls in this world. However, when it comes down to it I bet 95% of my time is absorbed in thoughts of my life, and vain ones at that. Rarely do I open my eyes enough to see the bigger picture.

I came to realize this last night as I was preparing to wake up early to see a lunar eclipse. While looking out my window at the moon I became very aware of the grandness of God in His creation and the nothingness of man. Instantly the psalm penned by David came to mind.

"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man, that thou at mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" (Psalm 8: 3-4)

I was reminded there that the world does not in fact revolve around me, it revolves around God. "For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. A-men." (Romans 11: 36)

I am humbled and encouraged to look at life in a new perspective. To view our existence on earth as a mere blip in time. To focus on the one who truly deserves all glory and honor namely, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God.

"O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" (Romans 7: 24)

Only the grace of God can enable me to love and cherish Him as I ought. Praise be to God, "For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8: 3-4)

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5: 8)

It is so good to have the scriptures to remind us of the love of God towards His children. Thank you Jesus for loving me, redeeming me, making me a new creature in you, and giving us creation which testifies of your creative power and glory.

May God reveal Himself more to you each day, dear reader.

Warm Regards,
Ashley
